Roy Walker
Roy Walker descended via his mother from John Gilliat, the younger brother of Thomas, and both sons of Richard who died in 1823.

Joseph Gilliat 1856-1929
Joseph Gilliat grew up on his father's farm in Thorpe St Peter, Lincolnshire, but ran away from home around 1880 and found work on the railway in London, moving to the village of Heather in northwest Leicestershire eight years later. Here he spent the rest of his life.
Sarah Eliza Gilliat 1861-1934
Sarah Eliza Gilliat, nee Brett, was born in the parish of Creeting All Saints in Suffolk.
She found domestic employment in London and it was here that she met Joseph.
Ernest Joseph Gilliat 1888-1972 & Edith Ada Gilliat 1888-1940 in 1908
Ernest Joseph Gilliat, Roy Walker's Grandfather, was born in London in 1888 moving to Leicestershire with his parents when just a small baby.

Taught German at the Royal Latin School, Buckingham till 1997 (early escape, I mean retirement), now acts as a voluntary leader for Ramblers Holidays Ltd. and plays an active part in the local U3A (photo taken in 1999)
